Employment Tribunal claim process
Since 6th May 2014 it is mandatory requirement to contact Acas before a claim is presented to an Employment Tribunal, unless one of the limited exceptions apply.

Issuing the claim
Since 29th July 2013 it is now a requirement to pay an issue fee and a hearing fee.
- The amount of the fee is dependent upon what sort of claim is being pursued. A “Type A” claim – claims for unpaid wages, payment in lieu of notice, and redundancy payments attract an issue fee of £160.
- A “Type B” claim i.e. claims in respect of unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing complaints attract an issue fee of £250.
- Hearing fees in Type A claims amount to £230.
- Hearing fees in Type B claims attract a fee of £950.
If you are on a low income you might qualify for a fee remission in respect of all or part of an issue fee or hearing fee.
